RN suspended for giving outdated meds, drawing on pt's face and reused syringes

"A former Down East Community Hospital employee responsible for potentially exposing one patient to another patient’s blood through an intravenous infusion at the Machias facility earlier this year also administered outdated medication, failed to monitor a sedated patient adequately and used a marker to draw teardrops on the face of a sedated patient, according to the Maine State Board of Nursing"

What an idiot! At what point in his sick/twisted brain did he think it was a good idea to draw on an unconscious patient's face?

I wonder if this guy is practicing in Tenn? One would hope not.

I agree, he should loose his license permanently.

Good lord... someone needs to double-check the fentanyl count in the Pyxis. Doesn't sound like the work of a sane and sober man.

Good grief, did he sleep thru his nursing ethics classes? The suspension needs to be for a great deal longer. And I wonder if Tennessee is aware of what happen in Maine? He gives a bad name to everyone.

All I can say is OMG!!!!! And I thought I'd had "bad" nurses when I've been in the hospital before, but this one takes the cake!!! And, yes either they need to check the inventory in their pyxis narcs or he needs a CT scan. Makes you wonder what he dudn't get "caught" doing in the past?!

I hope I never have a CRNA like this!
