All I can say is I can't WAIT to see what our friend Karma does to this knucklehead! I mean seriously, for what reason does this person even still HAVE a license? So, basically the BON of Maine is telling its patrons of healthcare facilities that it doesn't matter how you are treated as long as you are treated????

What happened to do no harm? What happened to do unto others?

GOOD GRIEF!

It's scary that something like this can actually happen. I can't imagine what he's done in the past and has not been caught with. I hope this 'mishap' follows him around for the rest of his life so that he can't get another job. What goes through ones mind as they do this??

I would also bet anything that it was NOT a shock to the staff that had to work with that sadist.

Right - I found it odd that he was only required to "serve" half of his suspension. If I were a nurse in Maine (or a resident of that great state) I would be all over the Maine BON. IMO they should tattoo tears on his face as punishment for treating an anesthetized pt under his care in such a degrading way.

I agree. It really does make you wonder if a medical and psychiatric evaluation might not be in order.

So this gained him a suspension? What gets you fired these days? Obviously something more harsh!

The teardrops are one thing, and I'm certainly not saying it wasn't inappropriate. But what about the expired meds? And I just posted on a thread about reusing syringes where I said I've never seen, never heard of it, couldn't imagine it, and... here's someone who did it! His practice has clearly slipped way past acceptable parameters.
He clearly wasn't the only health professional to interact with this patient while anaesthetised - did nobody else say anything? If the patient hadn't had a reaction s/he wouldn't have known, so is this something he'd done before? It's all very odd.

Re: RN suspended for giving outdated meds, drawing on pt's face and reused syringes

just to quote from the link:
  • Used the same syringe to administer intravenous anesthesia to two different patients during their colonoscopy procedures on Jan. 4.
  • Administered outdated anesthesia on an unspecified date.
  • Failed to monitor a patient adequately during an anesthesia procedure on an unspecified date.
  • Used a marker to draw teardrops on an unconscious patient’s face on an unspecified date. The patient later complained that he had suffered a skin reaction to the marker, and the hospital suspended Hendry for eight days and placed him on probation for 90 days.
Other than the skin reaction, no patients were harmed in the incidents, according to the consent agreement.
The document cites Hendry for unprofessional conduct, incompetence, failing to follow policies and procedures designed to safeguard patients and "inaccurate recording, falsifying or altering a patient or health care provider record."

this guy has problems and he should not be working in health care.
