Qualified nurse requires work - UK
Here is an interesting audio interview from the UK.
Marie Coddington is weeks away from being a fully trained nurse. Qualifying is easy, getting a job is the hard part. There are 270 new nurses looking for work.Marie Coddington was born and bred in Nottingham in the 1970s. She's a single mum with two children and she's wanted to be a nurse from the age of eight after being a patient herself with ear problems
She says: "The care and kindness that I received from the nurses at the time generated the dream of becoming a nurse myself."
"Having left school without the qualifications needed to train as a nurse I took a different career path and trained to become a chef. I then went to work at the QMC as a domestic assistant and watching the staff on the wards refuelled my ambition and saw me going to college to gain the relevant qualifications to go to university."
Now she's just weeks away from qualifying as a staff nurse but there are 270 other newly qualified nurses also looking for employment.
Marie says: "In the last month I have applied for over 65 jobs across the whole of the UK. I think this shows my determination in my bid to realise my dreams and fulfill my vocation but to date I have not received any invitations for interview, but fingers crossed!"
