Palliative workers team up to ease the pain
The little-known but fast-growing field of palliative medicine, which began on the fringes of medicine in small community hospitals, is gaining greater respect. The number of medical centers offering palliative medicine has nearly doubled since 2000, growing to 1,240 programs, or about 30 percent of hospitals, according to the Center to Advance Palliative Care.
