A lot of good points. I total agree that mandation is not a good idea. I do overtime, but only on my terms. I like the fact that I can pick up some more time if I need the extra money. I know when I can handle it and when I can't. Yes, I have been mandated and I have complied because I knew the rules when I started at my job and I felt I could handle it. But if they mandate me and I feel I cannot work - I will put up a fuss. It is my license and I don't see the hospital standing behind me if I make a mistake because I was too tired. I understand the need to staff, but not at the expense of my license.
