Re: Omaha man uses steak knife to perform self-tracheotomy

considering it was the 2nd time he did this to himself, it was old hat. lol

i can't imagine doing that to myself... but at the same time, i would rather do that than suffocate.

Nope. Don't think I could do it.

But then again, I haven't been in his particular situation, either. Who knows what we're capable of?
Hey, you'd probably do it, and even wipe the knife with alcohol before the fact. I know I sure would!

The dr teaching my ACLS class taught us as well. He said it's very easy...and nearly impossible to miss if you know the landmarks.

Re: Omaha man uses steak knife to perform self-tracheotomy

He seems to be making a habit of self tracheotomies "He said he's had three tracheotomies since 2004. He performed the first one on himself in 2006 under similar circumstances." I'm thinking he really ought to find a better long term solution to his seasonal alergies!- maybe an antihistamine?

Assuming that Omaha steak knives are as high quality as Omaha steaks, at least he's using good surgical tools.

I'd do what I had to to stay alive. I'm funny that way.
