You can work your own hours if you get a job in case management working for insurance companies. The nurses that work in CM at the insurance company I work for pretty much have full rein over their hours. I work in prior auth and have to work 8 to 5 Monday through Friday with an HOUR for lunch. I don't have to work weekends or holidays at all and have an extra day off around holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. The majority of the nurses in CM and Continuos stay review also work from their homes so that's an extra added bonus. I'm hoping that when my year is up, that I will get to go home to work. I have never been so happy to be away from bedside nursing, working weekends, nights, and holidays! With bedside nursing, no, you can't set your own hours, but there are nursing jobs that where you can set your own hours. You just have to look for them.
