Since the NYU College of Nursing adopted a program geared toward teenagers interested in nursing careers, 3,709 middle and high school students have participated, officials said this week.
Through the Nursing Bound program, which was started in September 2002, the students have participated in activities to learn about nursing and how to focus their education toward a nursing career.
The program sponsors presentations at high schools from registered nurses, distribution of information through handouts and websites, a scholarship for NYU’s summer pre-college program and class trips to the Division of Nursing classrooms and laboratories.
Other offerings include small group and one-on-one advising sessions for interested high school students and a College Day with free workshops for high school students interesting in applying to nursing school.
