Nurses step in to help injured child

Two nurses shopping Friday at Wal-Mart on Alabama 150 in Hoover assisted a little boy who apparently ran into a clothing rack and dislodged his left eye.

Donna Hampton went with her 5-year-old son by ambulance to Birmingham's Eye Foundation Hospital after the accident about 1:30 p.m.

"I was in fruits and vegetables, and I heard a scream and a lady was running with her child, screaming `Help me, help me,'" said Starla Ranselle Kelsey, a registered nurse who teaches at Lawson State Community College.
