NURSES at a Scottish hospital have raised a petition after fears that they could be attacked by drug addicts and thieves in the car park.
Concerns were raised after a nurse was attacked in a car park at the weekend after her shift at Ninewells hospital in Dundee...
As a student I was attacked while waiting for a ride in the front entryway of the hospital I now work at. Some twerp decided to try and grab my chest and kiss me. I reported it, and he got a little jail time and an assault and battery charge.
A nurse got stabbed in the parking lot of our hospital last year, and a maintenance guy got attacked there also this year. Maybe he was mixed up with a nurse (because of the scrubs). This is just dangereous, and I don't even work in a 'bad' area. I work in a small country hospital where everybody knows each other by the first name (even the patients). Since our incidents, we have the option to request a security officer to accompany us to the car. But I have to admit, I get the chills when I see somebody standing in the parking lot, while I am walking to my car in the evening. I always talk to my husband on the phone before I reach the car.
I worked at one of those hospitals that spent LARGE bucks on beautification, etc., but the employee parking lot had no cameras, and poor lighting.
There had been a few reports of cars being broken into or vandelized. One night a friend of mine got into her brand new car, put it into reverse to back out, and then there was a major BANG, THUMP!! Seems that someone had removed her rear passenger tire, then put cement blocks under that side.
We all laughed like crazy, just at the thought, but it wasn't really funny at the time.
