I wonder if the government in Scotland offers these nurses any protection or the right to sue? No way. How can this possibly be? With the need so desperate, how can this happen?

Anytime someone makes you an offer that sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This is actually happening to nurses all over SE Asia, who unfortunately, are extremely gullible to these promises.

Example, nurses from Thailand being sent over to the US on F-1 visas (student) are told that they will be able to work in only 90 days................wrong...they haven't passed their English exams, and you must have a Visa Screen Certificate attached to your petition for a change in status. Once you have passed NCLEX and the English exams, it takes about four months to get the Certificate from CGFNS, then it is another 90 days before you get your EAD letter. And they are going over to the US and paying $5000 US to study for three months just in the morning.

Or how about the contract where they get $16 blended rate, which calculates out to $12/per hour for working in California. How can you even survive on that? And these contracts are for three years plus they have th right to stretch it out even longer if you need additional training.

I have reached my burning point over here, if they are that stupid to believe that they are coming out ahead. Let them do it.............I guess I don't know anything..................
These are just slave contracts..................literally and I thought that the US did away with slaves long ago. These company owners should be laid out to rot...but that would be too good to them, as well as the people that are essentially selling people.

This is why I am against so many of the agencies that are out there. Have just seen too many people burned. Definitely believe in direct hires for the nurse, where the money goes to her/him and not to the agency. I personally want nothing to do with any agency at this point. They would have to try real hard to get me to change my views.

There is no quick fix for working in the US. The nurse must follow the appropriate steps, and if they want the fast way, then they will really be paying the price, in more ways than one.

The british left India 57 years back,but Slave trade still continues.
What a shame! I wonder what the Scottish authorities are doing about it? Perhaps immigration authorities in India are unaware of what is actually happening to nurses who leave their homeshores in search of better careers and opportunities.

In the West we are so used to being lied to that we build up an internal BS alarm that goes off when we hear the lies. However, these people come from a culture that is entirely different and they are more easily abused.
