Post Nurses Fall Ill From Marijuana Brownies

http://www.sanluisobispo.com/mld/san...o/11522475.htm

Excerpt:

"Twelve Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center employees, including on-shift nurses, last week ate brownies that authorities suspect were laced with marijuana.
An employee's family member allegedly brought the treats to the hospital, according to Sierra Vista spokesman Ron Yukelson, and staff reported feeling strange half an hour after eating them. Neither Sierra Vista nor local police would identify the employee or relative.

Hospital officials said that patients weren't endangered in what they called an unprecedented event."

sounds dangerous.....yet seems like there must be a gap to the story

I am surprised that the tone of the article is so light... I would be ****** if someone drugged me - especially at work - even with a laxative. I doubt an "aging hippie" is at fault - more likely a kid who was stoned at the time themselves. Don't get me wrong - I personally feel pot should be legalized - but its a matter of choice and having it slipped to anyone is dead wrong and they need to treat it seriously.

I agree! Whoever is to blame had no business drugging people unwittingly and especially when they were at work. I, too, was a little taken aback by the flippancy of the article.

After reading the article, I find it neither "humerous" nor "funny" - it is beyond either of these descriptions. Doing this was wrong. But - it keeps a person's eyes open as a reminder not to eat food prepared by others, even when delivered as a "gift"

Okay, in my day I had a pot brownie or two ( that would be art school :hatparty: ) and you can taste they are not Dunken Hines. Pot stinks. Its not funny to drug nurses.

There is a certain flavor, texture and smell to funny brownies...uh...or so I have been told...anybody remember the episode of Barney Miller when Wojohowitz brought "Hash"Brownies to work by accident. The best episode ever. Fish says "The first time in 15 years I feel great. And it's illegal!" I guess I'm aging myself....

While we all love a yummy treat at work, stories like this make me wonder if it's wise to go tearing into food made by someone else...

I work in the NICU, and years ago there was a baby whose mother would bring in great home-baked cakes for the staff. What they didn't know was that she was using breastmilk in place of cow's milk. She wasn't doing it to be mean - she honestly didn't understand what was wrong with using breastmilk in cooking, since she had tons of it.

When my dad was young and crazy, he played a trick on his coworkers at the hospital. He's from Wisconsin, and after a visit home to his parents, he brought back a 5-gallon bucket of Door County cherries. Now, eating a ton of cherries by itself is going to send you to the bathroom sooner or later...but he somehow laced them with Ex-Lax for a joke. Nothing really bad come of it except for some pretty uncomfortable coworkers and some seriously gross bathrooms. He didn't get in trouble, as a matter of fact today he's the department head. But he admits he was young and stupid, and he's thankful nothing really bad happened as a result.
