It began with a routine hospital room visit by a nurse who is anything but average.

Marta Hunt stopped by Swedish Hospital's birthing center three years ago to see how breastfeeding was going for newborn baby Kate and her mom, Jill Moe.

It's a given that Hunt was busy. Even so, she took the time to really see and care.

Immediately Hunt recognized what Moe and her husband, John, were only just grasping themselves.

Baby Kate had arrived with anchondroplasia. She was born with dwarfism.

I am so proud of the good we nurses do. This lactation nurse has done a wonderful thing.
