Re: Nurse to Head Univ. of California Medical Center

I find it strange that the journalist who wrote the article just said she doesn't have an MBA and that she isn't a physician. Ok - so why didn't the writer include her nursing credentials? She probably has an MSN. That is relevant to running a hospital system.

When I was a CNA, I worked at a hospital that had a nurse as its administrator. I don't see why this is so strange or unique... all the staff respected her, and i thought she did a wonderful job with her background.

don't love her statement "I started at the lowest level...I was at the bedside".

clearly she has been management and will continue to see herself and her colleagues as more important than the Registered Nurses that remain at the bedside.

Totally agree!! This comment bothered me too. Definitely sounds like some of the administrative nurses where I work.

The whole tone of the article seems to paint her in a bad light, and quesiton the decision to instate her. But, maybe I was reading too much into it.
