Nurse faces two new porn charges
A former Hospital for Sick Children nurse facing child pornography charges has been denied bail and is charged with two new counts.
Scott Faichnie showed no reaction as he was denied bail by justice of the peace Suzanne Haddad after a two-hour hearing yesterday.
His mother, sitting in the College Park courtroom, put a hand to her face in grief and was comforted by relatives.
The 33-year-old Etobicoke man was charged last month with two counts of possession of images of child pornography, and one count of accessing it on the Internet. He was also charged with making child porn available to others.
Yesterday, two charges relating to alleged events in March, 2003 were added to the list: one of possession of child pornography and one of accessing written child pornography: "written material obtained from the Internet that advocates or counsels sexual activity" with a person under age 18, according to his court information sheet.
Faichnie had worked at Sick Kids since September, 2002. He was dismissed after the charges were laid.
He next appears in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday.
