The largest two-year boom in nurse hiring in 20 years gave way to a bust in 2004 and 2005 as the U.S. economy rebounded and registered nurse inflation-adjusted wages dipped, new research shows.

I can't access the article without paying a fee. If the article says that in light of the slowing of wage increases and increased oppurtunity in other fields due to good economy that nurses are leaving nursing they got it right.
