If it's anything like the "Calendar Girls" movie, then I am 100% behind them! I applaud them and would happily donate to their cause.
Anyone who hasn't seen the movie should definitely see it before they pass judgment.
I wish them the best of luck with their fundraising efforts and I am proud to call them my colleagues.

For my 2 cents worth I would like to see the calander befor passing any judgement 'calander girl' could imply anything. An aged care centre i know of here in oz done a 'calander girl' calander to raise money and portrayed the the female pts posing in different get ups nothing rude or naughty, but if you read , Age care facility uses clients in calander girl calander you could read any thing into it. However i know were your coming from and i believe your intetions are to highlight the negative portrayal of nurses and your right to worry becuase we do get a bum rapp. Check out the calander and commenty further.
Cheers.

The calendars sound less racy than the cover of Cosmopolitan. So it's not pornographic and it's for a good cause. What basis would the state board use to pull licenses?
I would be more concerned with the effect Andrea Yates had on nursing. Or consider the nurses protrayed in smut films. That is a better place to spend energy if there is a preceived problem.

...I would like to see the calendar also, to see how much skin is shown and/or if it is seductive. Because it MAY cause some pts. to feel uncomfortable and others it MAY give them a green light (in their minds) to give out verbal or physical sexual taunts.
...there's an old saying "It is never right to do wrong to do right". If you wouldn't show up at work that way, you shouldn't sell photos that way.

I say good for them. It's pretty ballsy and is obviously getting the attention they were shooting for, pretty good marketing if you ask me. If it's tasteful, why not? You Go Girls! I'd do it for the right cause. If someone wants to pay for a picture of me, cool. Firefighters and police orgs have been doing it for a long time.

OH MY GOD! I've seen "Naughty Nurses" advertised on satellite tv, been assaulted with "nurse porn", in video stores, and have seen nurses portrayed as VD carrying, bed-hopping bimbos on prime-time tv. You're worried about a few brave nurses posing (maybe seductively, maybe not, we don't even know yet) for a calendar to raise money for a great cause? Pull their licenses? Get a grip!
I applaud those ladies for having the guts to pose, seductively or not, and not only put themselves on the line, but let hundreds of people in their area know they're nurses, and proud of it!
I agree with the poster that mentioned not leaving your house if you're so offended. I have been offended by profanity on t-shirts and bumper stickers on my way to work, but would never suggest pulling a driver's license. How about the young people who spout profanity in every conversation? What about women who wear a thong exposed by low-rise jeans? Hey, let's ban bikini bathing suits too! What else offends your delicate sensibilities?
Freedom of expression is a right in this country, and apparently these nurses chose a marketable item as a fundraiser to further a cause they believed in.
If they did a calendar like that in my area, and wanted a chubby, 40 year old male nurse to pose, and I agreed with the cause, you best believe my scrubs would hit the floor!
Lighten up please, there's alot of other things to get in a huff over. Remember, pick your battles wisely! I'm sorry to sound harsh, but please, there's always something you can find offense in if you look hard enough.

No, Marie...it's not. She's choosing to use a phrase like "state of Wisconsin, please pull their licenses"...why? Did someone die as a result of these calendars being made? God forbid the nurses actually do something WRONG.
Instead, she attacks these well meaning individuals. Pathetic, picky..utterly ridiculous. So yes, growing up is definitely in order.
