Re: Nevada: Nurse instructor compromise is approved to allow BSN educators for clini

I hate that this is called a "compromise"

I've been a clinical instructor (just my BSN ) for 2 1/2 years, at a CC and a university...

In AZ, one has to have 3 years experience, and have a BSN to teach clinicals...I report to a doctorate level educator, who does the classroom teaching...

The opposition to this (proposed) law is absurd...

When I went thru nsg school 14 years ago, all of my clinical instructors were masters prepared and taught theory in the classroom...The average time ALL of them had been AWAY from direct pt care was 10 years...(one of them hadn't been at the bedside for 17 years!

yea, THAT'S a better plan...please

The school I graduated from (in 1985) required that all instructors work on summer break in their clinical area of expertise so they would be current.

But then again, that was "just" a lowly hospital based diploma program, and we all know how inferior they are.
