Nevada Facing Nursing Shortage (News 4 Reno)

Nevada's nursing facilities are being hampered by a shortage of nurses. And the schools that train nurses are hampered by a lack of teachers. To teach nurses, a professor must have a degree higher than the student.

I saw this on the news. I'm glad to hear that they're attempting to get more instructors. Heck, this semester, my clinical faculty was up in the air until shortly before my semester started. It's not a great feeling to sign up for a section that is instructed by TBA.

When I arrived in Las Vegas from New Orleans homeless and determined never to return to nursing. I would laugh at the news and the nations shortage of nurses. Now that I am back on my feet and my family has talked me into returning to nursing after 4 years...sigh
The laugh is on me... I am gonna need a GOOD, KIND, GENTLE preceptor. After that, to ever feel comfortable in nursing again, I will probably need to try the RN to BSN program.
