We are already abused like a "National Nurse" so might as well make it legal.
I would like to see nurses endorsements to other states done away with because if we sit for a NATIONAL EXAM we should be able to practice nursing in ANY state...not just one. Once we pay for a license we shouldn't have to pay for another one.
Interesting....did things change recently? Because I know that some states do endorse....which ones do u know require RN's to take the NCLEX exam again in order to work in that particular state?

The NCLEX is NOT required to be repeated. I'm talking about having to pay for "licensure by endorsement" when moving or temporarily traveling from one state to another. I hold numerous licenses since I've been a travel nurse for many years. It would have been nice not to have to put out so much money to each state for "licensure by endorsement". It would help to have a national nursing license that covers all states doing away with the endorsement process when moving from one state to the next. Still confused on what I'm trying to say here?

Nope. You've just clarified yourself. Thanx.

This is from an op-ed piece in this morning's New York Times today called "America's Nurse," op-ed contributor Teri Mills points out that national nurse's week came and went and nothing happened. She also points out that by the year 2020, there will be 400,000 fewer nurses than needed in the United States.
Ms. Mills goes on to make an extremely intriguing suggestion about there being a national nurse. I think this will make a great discussion topic.
Below are some snippets from the op-ed piece, with a link to the full article:
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but not only does the NYTimes want you to register, they want you to purchase this archived article.
Public Health nurses already exist but I never see or hear about their activities. I guess their work is not as extensive as what the article suggests. Sounds appealing to me.
An interesting idea ... I'm off to see if I can read the text of the actual bill.
I'm curious about how the efforts & activities of this agency would differ from those of the office of the surgeon general, other HHS departments, and the state & local health departments?
