Massachusetts House aims to back state's nurses

The Legislature is taking immediate action to protect nurse staffing levels in the Commonwealth. Among our initiatives is the "Patient Safety Act", which requires that hospitals maintain adequate nurse complements. Since hospitals vary in size and scope, it is clear that elected officials are not well-schooled enough to dictate the manner in which these staffing ratios should be applied. Nurse managers and hospital administrators who are far more familiar with their respective institutions' environments are the ones to whom we look to meet this critical requirement.
