KY Surgeon In Court For Allegedly Hitting Nurse

A western Kentucky doctor has a date in court Monday morning. He was suspended for harassment when a nurse says he hit her.

Doctor Bruce MacDougal, a plastic surgeon at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, allegedly became upset when he couldn't access a piece of equipment for a procedure in the emergency department.

A nurse reportedly brought him the equipment, and that's when the nurse says he hit her in the back.

The incident allegedly occurred in front of several employees.

Wow...they would've probably had to pin me down if that had happened to me...lol. I wonder how they got "harrassment" from that action as opposed to assault as well. I hope he gets jail time.

Hopefully this will teach him a lesson. Nurses aren't there to be hit.

I knew a surgeon once who was famous for throwing instruments in the OR. He hit a nurse once who, as soon as possible, went outside the room and called police. She did not call her supervisor. Anyway, when MD came out of the OR he was arrested for assault and battery and YES, he did a little jail time plus paid her a sum of money. Turned out his ego that wanted everything filmed so he could watch himself later was used against him. Didn't need witnesses. She left that hospital though because some people felt his sentence was too stringent. Personally, I applaud her.

Never, ever any reason to tolerate workplace violence.

I would have IMMEDIATELY called the police and pressed charges.

Of course, she never would work in that hospital again if she had, but it would have been worth it!

It would be interesting to know what he does to his family when he is angry. Anyway, I hope they throw the book at him, a stiff fine, jail time or at least a suspended sentence that will follow him, and that she sues him for pain and misery.
