Kentucky health system seeks to sell extra nurse labor

Faced with a chronic nursing shortage, Kentucky-based Norton Healthcare, owner of five Louisville hospitals, has set up its own staffing agency to draw on nurses whose family or other demands rule out a permanent hospital job. The agency now employs nearly 400 nurses and is planning to sell extra labor to local competitors and other healthcare businesses.
