Sorry to see that Oprah's Favorite Things 2005 is story for Nov 21st.
Checked schedule for all next week, this story not listed---unless these volunteers are the ones to receive Oprah's largeese---wouldn't suprise me.

I was just going to ask if anyone in here had volunteered during the Katrina disaster. I was there for about 5 days and still think about it from time to time. Would love to here your after thoughts about it.

I was in Baton Rouge at the PMAC from Wednesday to Saturday after Katrina hit. Worked in the "yellow" section

I worked there the first day was a Wednesday. Maybe the week after you. Do you remember a short bald guy?

I didn't go but was able to cover shift so colleagues could.

A nurse e-mailed me that a nurse she met volunteering in Texas will be on the show Monday.
When Googled all I found was that BLOG.

I also worked over in the special needs area of the field house at LSU. Went down to New Orleans one day and finished up at the Centraplex in Baton Rouge.

Well I did watch. I was embarrassed. The audience was Katrina volunteers led to believe the show would be a follow up about those who gave their heart, soul, and skills to victims. The stories of many nurses, a pharmacist, and an air boat captain were given at most a minute each. The nurse in the link quit her job because they wouldn’t give her time off to volunteer. She has another job now.

Most of the show was like an infomercial. Oohhing and ahhing over overpriced soft clothes, sweet foods, and perfume which were given to the audience. Sorry if you liked it. I was disappointed.
