I saw that too. Just like the lead-coated toys, the toxic play beads, and the tainted pet food.

And anytime China is asked to answer these grievances, their government throws a screaming fit. Why do our corporations insist on doing business with this regime?

I guess when you have ultra-cheap workers and unregulated workplaces, your investors love the fat profit margins.

Bingo.

And our own FDA and CDC have become so politically infiltrated and disempowered by corporate interests that they no longer work for public safety and protection. FDA approval has nothing to do with safety anymore because any drug or substance approval is generally based on very biased studies that are done by the companies that manufacture the product. Our health and our lives are under the control of huge corporations and it is very disheartening to see so much suffering because of it.

What to do?

Nor, does it help when our captains of industry kiss the feet of the Communist Party of China, as Mattel's president did when he actually apologized for the lead-paint scandal... to the Chinese government! Never a word of apology to America, and never did China accept any culpability for their own shady business practices. Well, here it is in the pharmaceutical industry now, where people are at much more risk of permanent injury or death if the product is unsafe

Re: Heparin illnesses

Has it occurred to anyone that China may well be tainting products aimed for America on purpose?

Or am I just being ultra-paranoid?

Re: Heparin illnesses

Andreas, could I trouble you for a reference to that apology from the Mattel head? That's astonishing.

Mattel apologizes to China over recalls on MSNBC.

I guess they did offer a half-hearted apology to American consumers. But in trying to save face for China, they shamed the United States of America.

Admittedly, can't blame them for taking advantage of what our own corporations are handing to them at the expense of Americans. After all, stockholders need to eat too.

But one of the attractions of doing business in China is that a lack of QA oversight in Chinese manufacturing facilities cuts down the cost for American corporations to do business with them.
