I just came back from New Orleans last week and I did the Katrina Tour. It was very sad- brought tears to my eyes. The one thing the Tour Guide said was that she was unprepared for the intensity of the storm since the news reports did not upgrade the level of the storm until a day before. She also said that they never expected the llevies to break and that the river itself did not overflow - I actually saw the metal sheets that failed and the new ones - side by side - the old ones are at least 10 -15 feet shorter then the new ones. Also - I found this appauling-- the FEMA trailers are temp. rentals that the govt is paying 75000 for -- I actually saw a modular permenant home that could COMFORTABLY house 4 people -- price tag 70,000....now doesn't that disgust you. I guess my point is that while the nursing home situation is terrible -- I think that the govt needs to be held accountable....
