I live locally to this story. No one around here could believe it either. I keep meaning to try and ask someone what happened. It really is tragic, and even
though I don't think he meant to hurt her, at his age/training he should have known better. He cetainly qualifies for the idiot of the year award if nothing else.
It is hard to believe a trained person did this. When defib. kits started being placed in easily assessable places I worried about something like this happening. I even considered someone might use one for a weapon. I never dreampt that a medical tech would do it. Always thought it would be someone who did not know what they were doing killing someone.
How sad for her family and children. I too am shocked that someone in the medical field would not know better than to play with defib paddles. Very sad.
I really loved the part where his mother defends him by saying that "...everyone plays on the job, even cops..." yeah, but cops don't shoot at each other as a "prank" and nurses don't go around injecting 20 units of insulin into coworkers just for a laugh (although there have been time I would have liked to... I just never would).

A manual defibrillator is a lot different than an automatic defibrillator. You couldn't do this with an automatic defibrillator
