Re: Distorted AIDS Scare

couldn't bring up the link on the aids/plague link...but there may be something to it . the african-american and the people in sub-saharan africa have abnormally high percentages of the populations dx with hiv/aids and they probably do not more of the people in high-risk behavior
plague probably was not introduced into africa in middle ages..this may be off the wall but it is something to think about

again, i understand that some morbidities do have life style choices but i can't promise that smoking will lead to cancer, it does mostly but not always. i can pretty much promise if you are a female and you have sex with a HIV man, you have a very good chance on the first of getting HIV and every time after. Man to Man sex, don't have anal, it creates micro-rips that increase infection rates, again you can pretty much promise it will lead to infection.

the other point, i smoke once, twice or even 20 times, i am not likely to get cancer. with HIV you need just one time.

have i ever used the word "WRONG" in my comments to condemn behavior, i don't believe so. What i have been trying to convey is behavior is the primary infection reason, not blind chance or bad luck. if you have a problem with people pointing out that this behavior or that behavior is going to get you a death sentence, then you need to evaluate why it bothers you so much.

you would not have a problem with me writing that driving drunk is likely to lead to someone getting hurt, why is there an issue with me writing that certain behaviors can lead to HIV? is it so important to you to defend a position, you can't even have it challenged?
i think what is causing some of the problem here is that there ARE a certain number of persons who have become infected thru NO behavior of their own.....and some posters feel that YOU dont seem to understand this, or at least "allow" for this.....in some ethnicities/religions women do not have the right to refuse their husbands conjugal relations....

I live in a rural Midwestern region that is about 95% white, and it appears that the percentage of out of wedlock births is almost as high as that, if not more so.

Monogamous and out of wedlock do not mean the same thing. Many people are out of wedlock and still monogamous. Many married people are not monogamous...

Re: Distorted AIDS Scare

borus, I have refuted all of your points.

A married woman who contracts sex from her husband has done nothing wrong.

A child who contract AIDS from her mother who contracted it from her husband has done nothing wrong.

A gay guy who gets it from his partner has done nothing wrong.

A fat person who has diabetes has done nothing wrong.

A junkie who seeks a fix is doing nothing wrong.

Our insistence that certain victimless activities - drug use and gay sex among them - are "wrong" is largely what has led to the problem in this country.

But your mind won't change. It's so open that the truth enters in one ear and shoots out the nearest exit.
