Cop's wife: Nurse saved hubby's life

The wife of a wounded cop credited the stranger who stopped to help her husband with saving the fallen officer's life.

"Without him, my husband probably wouldn't be alive," Debra Harris said yesterday of nurse Tyrone Murphy, who went to the aid of Officer David Harris after he and Officer Dominick Romano were shot by a deranged gunman Sunday in Queens Village.

Murphy was on his way to buy juice for his two children when he came upon the carnage - the two cops bleeding on the street in front of Sts. Joachim and Anne Church on Hollis Ave. The emergency-room nurse ripped off his shirt as a tourniquet for Harris' shattered leg and waited with him until emergency crews came.
