Months after nurses at San Joaquin General Hospital thought they had a plan in place to deal with patient-to-nurses ratio, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has scuttled that plan.
The plan, which county supervisors will vote on today under a memorandum of understanding with nurses, calls for implementation of AB394. Under AB394, all hospitals must meet a nurse-to-patient ratio plan for different departments, including a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio in the emergency room and medical/surgical units.
