Re: article about differences between NP and PA

thanks for sharing, great article. Too bad they didn't go more in depth, but as the article states.. the roles blur on the job. Would love to hear more on PA's and NP's in the ER and critical care areas, functioning "independently" when the number of physicians was low... to increase patient care and monitoring, such as night shift. Anyone have more news, please share. It's a growing trend that we all will see.

Re: article about differences between NP and PA

"In training, that's a big difference," Mr. Ramos said. "Nurse practitioners are first and foremost nurses and their training is based on the nursing model, not on the medical model. The PA training is based on the medical model." In fact, he said, PAs and medical students take many of the same courses."

Umm, Sir? I do think nursing is part of the "medical model". Maybe what he really meant was that PA training is based on the *physician* model or the medical *school* model. Which is exactly why I want to be an NP and not a PA. (NO OFFENSE meant to PAs; I just felt the nurse/NP curriculum is more in keeping with my goals and visions.)

Otherwise, a good article.
