ADVANCE Salary Survey 2007

ADVANCE Salary Survey 2007

A few interesting findings:
  • The majority of respondents, 35 percent, are relatively new grads (1-5 years of experience). More than 16 percent have 6-10 years of experience; just over 13 percent have 11-15 years under their belts.
  • Nearly 11 percent have been employed for 16-20 years, and close to 9 percent have been providing nursing care for 21-25 years.
  • In our 2005 survey, 22 percent of respondents stated that they were required to work overtime. In our new survey, that figure increased to 36 percent.
  • Nearly 43 percent of respondents have bachelor’s degrees, up from 35 percent in 2005.
  • Approximately 65 percent are not certified in the specialty area in which they practice; 35 percent are.
  • The majority of respondents, 54.5 percent, work in a hospital/acute care setting. Nearly 10 percent are employed at a setting they classified as “other;” 5.9 percent work in long-term care.

After 25+ yrs as RN, my salary as manger is closer to DE than PA thankfully... maybe need to consider driving over the bridge to NJ...

Compared to Southern California, however I'm $20,000 behind....

but a 3-4 bedroom homes in great school district in PA about $300,000 compared to $850,000 there.

Re: ADVANCE Salary Survey 2007

Interesting Stuff Karen.

I seem to be doing well for Florida and my number of years experience.

What's interesting is that in Florida Unionized hospitals have the lowest average salaries, with not-for-profits having the best salaries compared to unionized and for-profit hospitals.

Smile Re: ADVANCE Salary Survey 2007

Hmmnn, I live and work in Philadelphia, and make between $75,000 and $80,000 per annum for my 36 hours per week. I have over 23 years experience so am at the top of the ladder. Our university hospital offers great benefits.

The survey states $63,000 for my years of experience in nursing in PA. I guess the rest of PA must be swaying the average.

Alot of my fellow nurses work someplace else so that some of them are making $125,000 to $150,000. I have chosen to concentrate on furthering my education rather than make alot of money. My belief is that the longer I live the more money I can make, but working myself to death won't accomplish much.
