13,000 nurses across Finland are threatening to resign
|
|
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7046852.stm
Tehy says half of its 124,000 staff are struggling to survive because of low pay, and many now want to work abroad.
Nurses in Finland's public sector say they are poorly paid and often have to cope with huge workloads.
Now that corporate healthcare has brain drained the Phillipines they can work on Finland. sigh......

I have to say, that I admire them. It is too bad that American nurses have fought unionizing for so long. This is what it would take to improve pay and working conditions here.
Of course, hospitals and nursing homes fear, like nothing else, the American nurse workforce unionizing en masse, and using their muscle to demand the changes that are necessary. Why do you think that so many areas of the country are anti union. The brain washing and gestapo tactics used by these employers, demonstrate their fear of mass unionizing occuring here in the good old USA. It never ceases to amaze me just how gullible the American worker, especially nurses are. Just why do you think that they don't want it easier for workers to unionize? Maybe we might realize we have more power than they do? Think about it!!

The pay they state in the article,is that monthly or weekly? It converts to about 2600 us dollars,if I am right? Sad what is happening. I hope they stick to their guns and get what they need. Going to another country and leaving family, must be very difficult.

The pay mentioned is a monthly pay. And considering the cost of living - it is very little. It looks like they are sticking to their guns this time. I think there is three weeks to settle. geena/ finn nurse in ca

What they're paying their RN's is abominable. I hope the RN's stand their ground and achieve what they deserve!
