Im Dating A Young Lady Who Claims To Be A Registered Nurse, However When I Checked On The License (tn Health Dept) It Says "nurses Aide". When I Confronted Her About This She Said Her License Lapsed And She Only Renewed Her Nurses Aide License. Wouldnt Her Previous License Show Up? Also , How Can I Check To See If This Is True. I verify hundreds of licences yearly, part of my job as a home care manager. In most states with online license data bases, ANY license the person held will be viewable online. Licensure status: active, inactive, expired, probationary, disciplinary history exists, deceased etc. would be noted. Claiming to be a licensed nurse (when not) is a criminal offense in most states, punishable by huge fines up to and including imprisionment.


Allnurses love life advice:
If this woman is so insecure that she needs to lie about her career, what else is she lying about? You've felt the need to "check up " on her. Better find a new woman.

if this is going to be a casual relationship then it is not important enough for you to go to the trouble of checking up on her

a nurse can lose her license or be suspended for a certain length of time and still need to work at something to provide for self

some people will claim to be nurses when they really are not not ethical if presenting her self to employer but not a big thing if stated in a singles bar

whatever is this really your business

Most RNs do not keep a nurse's aide certification(not license) in addition to an RN license. There is no need to. And most will not work as an aide because they may legally be held to a higher standard of care, than a regular aide.

Few RNs let their license lapse unless they are permanently leaving nursing, as it is difficult to get it back.

Why Am I Checking Up On Her? Wel I Found Saw Some Drugs In Her Apt. (non Narcotic) But Still Stuff You Wouldnt Normally See, Narcan And Nitro, So I Asked Her About Why She Would Have That And She Told Me She Was A Nurse, I Wanted To Make Sure I Wasnt Getting Involved With A Nut, I Beleive I Have The Right To Protect Myself, And Maybe I Was Wrong, So Im Asking People Who Could Help Me Check Or Tell Me How.

I have to side with the OP on this one. I have checked many people out before. If someone you are considering having a relationship with is lying about their profession what else could they be lying about???

Nursing and pharmacy are two seperate careers. Narcan and Nitro at nurses home ---not on your life unless prescibed by a medical practitioner.
