Question Question??

Hi I am a nursing student and I am interested in working in the ER dept. I was wondering what types of education and experience would be necessary for me to practice in that area.

Thank You for your valuable time,
Paula

HELLO :Melody:

Get experience in ICU, CCU, med-surg. Peds and OB if you can. That would be pretty well-rounded. That is if you have the time. Some hospitals give you a chance if you have worked for at least 1-2 years in ICU/CCU.

You need BLS, ACLS, TNCC or ATLS, PALS, NRP.

Good luck!!

I know someone who got a job in ER directly out of school. What got her there was her experiece as a EMT. So that would be my suggestion

I work in a busy level one (the highest level) trauma center. We hired 23 new grads in June. We prefer they have SOME hospital or pre-hospital experience. Orientation is 16 weeks.
