Post Passion for nursing!

Hey!
I'm so glad that I found allnurses.com
I'm 18
I live in Missouri (show me state!)
and here is alittle about myself...

I've wanted to become a nurse since I was at the age of 7years old!
I'm now 18years old and have gotten my GED (I didn't drop out of school or anything I was going to a christian school program with homeschooling and since I was very ill when I was younger with some serious health issue the school kicked me out and I had no choice but to get my GED)

I really have a passion for taking care of people (babies, teens, older people and even pets too.)

I am praying my dream will come true.I plan to attend school and atleast get my LPN and work at our local hosp.

The only reason I'm holding off on college is because my dad is in need of a liver transplant and is very ill.I dont want to be in college and have to leave and be gone for so long and then the college kick me out.
My dad is on the national transplant list and we are hopeing that the pager goes off soon.I have to be with my dad in Nebraska (where he will be gettin his new liver) for up to 8weeks.
After my dad gets his liver I plan to apply for college and start my dream!

I'd love any advice or just be able to talk to nurses or someone who has a passion like me.Go ahead and email me

Since my dad is needing a liver and he is in and out of the hosp alot it has given me a chance to really see what everything is all about and what goes on.I have learned alot from staying with him and even walking around with the nurses and I've been lucky because alot of them have talked to me one on one.

Okay-I'm sure this is getting alittle long.

Look forward to having fun on allnurses.com
Peace & Love

Charla

and Welcome to allnurses.com

It is wonderful that you joined. I, too, wanted to be a nurse even when I was a very little girl, just like you. And, I did it!!!! Keep your eyes forward and don't give up the dream. And, stay here with us. We'll guide you along the way.

Let us know how your father does. Hoping all goes well for him.

Re: Passion for nursing!

Hi and welcome!

My brother recieved a kidney/pancreas transplant recently, and I am currently in school to become a surgical tech. I hope everything goes well for your dad, and trust me, you WILL learn quite a bit just helping to care for him in the weeks after his transplant. The first month or so is not easy, and he's very lucky to have you to help care for him. Best of luck in school, I hope you get there soon!

Thanks for the comment!

I've already learned alot from taking care of him so far because he is very ill right now.I know it will be a long process but it will be worth it.
