Cool Newbie from Ohio...RN, MSN

Hi!! I'm Patti from Ohio. I've been a RN for about 10 years and have really loved all the positions I've held. However, now ore and more, I feel as though I am bumping heads so to speak with the administration...so I'm looking for a change. I've considered many options...administration, education and consulting services...but I am just not sure! I have recently completed my MSN, am a Clinical Instructor in an ADN program, which I do enjoy. However, I am now looking into certification as a CLNC...I've been toying with this idea for awhile...we'll see. I think it would allow me to use all my strengths in one career...education, legal 'knowledge' and nursing experience.
Also...personally, I am happily married with three children ages 4, 6, and 14. The youngest 2 are boys...and a home wrecking crew. The oldest a girl..just hitting teens and driving me stark mad at times! Anyway...that's about it for my intro...

Re: Newbie from Ohio...RN, MSN

Hi Patty!
I am an RN in Alliance, Ohio. I am jealous! I want my MSN, but I don't know which direction to go either! I went back to school and graduated in May with my BSN. I am an obstetrics nurse at heart (14 years!) but I am currently working in med/surg. I want to advance my career, but I'm 45 and not sure it would benefit me financially. I, too, have tossed around the idea of Legal Nurse Consultant. I,too, have not made any decisions. First my goal for deciding was October, then December, now my goal to make a decision is February, but I'm not any closer than I was in October! I would like to start a program in the spring. Since my heart is in Maternal/Child nursing, I would like to do something in the Women's Health field, but there is soooo much clinical, and I must work full-time. Maybe with a little chatting we can help one another! Oh, and I, too, am a mother of 3, however, my 2 oldest are boys...well, men now. They are 20 and 24. My daughter is 14, and although she is a fantastic kid, she can be a real drama queen at times!
