New and needing some guidance for patient problem

Hi there-This is my first post and to be honest, I am looking for a source of knowledge that (if I may be so bold) lacks some of the 'know-it-all/haven't seen it before so it doesn't exist/what do you know, your are JUST a nurse' flavor.

I take care of a friend that has a complex HX and have had problems from the first with addressing some of the problems. I am an LPN and was in the BSN program at Seattle U when I got sick. I am now disabled and cannot work anymore so I just try to help those I know to navigate the "system" of medicine we work in.

I don't know the appropriate manner to present a patient and ask for advice but yes, I know we are not diagnosing, treating, etc and am not looking for anything more than information. With that said, I need help. I have a patient/friend that needs some answers so I can get him sent in the right direction.
I will check back later today to see how these things are supposed to be done.
Thanks, glad I found you and I look forward to reading this because I want to, not just because I have to!

Hi Louise - welcome to allnurses
Kudos on using your experiences to help friends navigate the intimidating and overwhelming landscape of medical care and advice.
What kind of information is that you're looking for? I assume that by "I don't know the appropriate manner to present a patient" you mean here - the kind of information that would be helpful is age, gender, medical history, symptoms...
People here will generally be cautious offering diagnoses, but are very helpful with suggestions and information sources. Good luck!
