Smile New Male LPN Student

Hi all!

Just wanted to drop in and say hello, being a newbie to this site and a newbie to nursing.

I am 38 years old and Nursing will be my second career; having spent the last 15 in the IT industry.

I am not totally new to medicine, however, having been a Military medic and a civilian EMT afterward - I even did some time as a phlebotomist before there was such a thing as a "licensed" phlebotomist.

I start my LPN program on 9 JAN and will graduate next December, and am planning to imediately go to a LPN-ASN/RN program after LPN licensure.

My primary interest in the field, considering my previous experience, will be ED/Trauma; but my dream job would be as a flight nurse.

Any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated.

Hey, I just replied to your reply about my pt tracking issue. Was curious to see if it was M or F that was devising a DB for our new Pt tracking program. (BTW, it HAS to be compatible for both Palm and PPC ;-)
And of course youre a guy. Not that ladies couldnt do that sort of thing, just not too typical. We have a lot in common as I too am an EMT and will end up in the ED/Trauma. I just started LPN school in Sept and will graduate this June (10 mo prog). It would be great to network together, dont ya think?
