Hello All,

I've finally been accepted! Looking forward to entry to Chemeketa Community College's 2 year LPN/RN program (in Salem, Oregon). I am 25, female, married and mother of a beautiful 4 month old boy. I am very family oriented, will end up being main breadwinner once I am out of school.
I know that I would like to work in a hospital or large clinic, but do not know as of yet what specialty I would prefer. I look forward to variety, perhaps of ICU, and would like to explore volunteer options in addition to employment.
Hobbies include...heh, that would involve spare time. Yea.... I do enjoy spending time with my family, travel, cooking, walking, cartoons, movies and concerts.

Feel free to drop me a line, especially if anyone else out there is going to CCC!

Re: New

Hi Fellow Chemeketa Nursing Student!!! I will be starting at Chemeketa next month, as well. I just found out towards the end of July that I was admitted. I was #13 on the alternate list but luckily, they were able to get another instructor and with a few other drop outs, I was moved up the list. I just received my scrubs today. Hint...go try them on at the uniform store at Lancaster Mall and then order them through marcusuniforms.com. I was able to get 2 sets of scrubs for less than $50. Also, I talked to some 2nd year students at the CPR class I took and they told me we do not need ALL of those textbooks on the list. There are only about 4 or 5 that we will use on a regular basis and the others you can get from the library.

Anyways, it's good to see someone else in my neck of the woods. I look forward to meeting you next month.

Re: New

Hey Beth,

Very cool to meet another student at Chemeketa! That's good news about the extra instructor-I was disappointed when they first said only 45 positions. Good thing, tho. The more=merrier, I say. I'm excited but scared-you feel ready?

Re: New

I think I'm ready. I'm scared too but very excited. I worked so hard this last year to get all my pre-reqs done and camped out over night at the school to get my application in. It's going to be a tough and busy 2 years but it will be worth it. I'll look for you at orientation day. Take care.
