First of all I would like to say hello to everyone. My name is Don B.
I am a 28 year old male with a lot of compassion and creativity and I plan to start nursing school soon. I am currently pursing a M.S. in Plant Science. I will finish this Dec. and I am going to enroll in a second degree B.S. Nursing program. I have been reading several books on nursing and I especially like the textbook Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Nursing by Taylor et al. 2001. I know this book is somewhat old but it was cheap and I am sure that a great deal of nursing theory and practice has not changed.
I am aware that nurses deal with a great deal of abuse from patients, doctors, and fellow nurses. Can anyone out there share some experiences they have had with me?
I am interested in neonatal care, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. As I am a passionate viewer of Discovery Health (Babies Special Delivery, Birth Day Live, The Critical Hour, Trauma: Life in the E.R., and Lifeline). Can anyone out there share some advice and experience with me?
Nursing, to me, seems like a discipline in which I can express my compassionate nature and treat my patients as whole (mulitdimensional beings) instead of mechanical cells.
I would like any feed back and advice this community has to offer regarding my plans to become a nurse. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Thank you for your greeting. I am excited about working around such pure beings. I feel a great sense of duty to children. I am not familiar with the Lakota language but the quote was eloquent...
