Hi!,new to post,I evacuated for Hurricane Katrina from LA to TX
|
|
I'm very new to Houston,Texas, and is just settling in.Now that I have found a place to live , my kids placed in school, Formost,I had to re-establish my nursing identifications such as,apply for a temp. LVN license for Texas, attend a class to obtain another CPR card.
Now after applying online for numerous LVN positions,I am awaiting for responses, so far it appears I need to know Spanish as a second language,as for two positions indicated they require " Bi-language" as part of a required skilled.I am frustrated that it is taking much longer than I imagined to find a job.Any suggestions or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Lone Star State....I'm sorry for what you have been through but admire your dedication and perseverance. Have you tried agency work? It pays well and you have flexibility. I don't know what your background or experience is, but why not try Memorial Hermann healthcare system? They hire LVN's for their agency quite often and they are a very large system throughout the Houston area. Their website is very helpful. memorialhermann.org Keep us posted how you are doing. I'm sure many of the other nurses out there can help with suggestions also.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will follow up on it. I will feel so much better when I do find one, by the way I've done LTC for 6 yrs, procrastinating on returning back to school for RN, after obtaining job security I will most definitely start taking some classes.

Call teh Texas Nurses association - I think they were helping to get some relocated nurses placed in jobs.
