My advice, for what it's worth, for aspiring nurses......good grades are great but don't get so focused on them. good grades don't always equal good nurse. use your critical thinking on test questions.....it won't be like other classes where you learn something then get questioned on it. you need to rely thinking what the BEST answer is. some way when you're taking the boards.
Get a job in a hospital doing ANYthing. Become a CNA to work your way through school. And see if your local hospitals have summer internship programs. They are so helpful in terms of experience and exposure to different areas to find what you may like best. Med-Surg gives you a great exposure to lots of things.
Find people like yourself who are serious to study with. You may make some lifetime friendships in nursing school. I loved it!
If you are having problems, don't hesitate to go to your instructors! Don't wait until the ship is sinking.
Unfortunately many nurses DO eat their young, so try to find a hospital who has nurses who have undergone preceptor training. Don't wait to be asked to do something, ask WHAT you can do to help! Be a go-getter during clinicals.
Good Luck!!!
