hi everyone!

my name is Abubaeke, i'm just dropping a quick hello.
I Just started an accelerated second degree bachelors in nursing after working for 4 years as a social worker .
Nursing school is NOT a joke especially being in accelerated program with a 7 months old baby.... it's really kicking my butt
anyone have some ideas for me?

Re: hi everyone!

I know plenty of nursing students that graduated that had full time jobs and children to care for. My best advice is to get yourself really well organized, schedule time for studying, but above all, take time for you and your family. Don't let anyone tell you that you must neglect your family to graduate. Yes it is hard (even for us who don't have kids), but it is possible. If you can try to arrange childcare in advance (ask when your clinicals are, etc.). Get a good study schedule going and stick to it. Remember that C=RN, you don't have to get great grades, just pass the courses. Most employers don't care about GPA, just if you graduated. Find study partners that will kick you in the rear when you don't feel like studying. Use your supports. My school has a LCSW for the nursing students to help with time mgt, study skills, to talk about problems, etc. She was a big help to me at times. You can do this one step at a time. Concentrate on day-by-day, not the result. Before you know it you will be taking that walk across the stage to receive your diploma!
Good luck!
Amy
