Hello from Minnesota

I am new here as I just found out about the site.

I am a new nurse that graduated in May of this year. I was an assistant manager at the local KMart until the company closed our store and I took the option to be retrained. I had always wanted to be a nurse so I figured this was my opportunity to do it.
I am married and have been for 29 years. I have three living children, 28, 24, 21 and three grandchildren 9, 6, and 3.
I am currently looking for a job in my local community. Nothing as of yet though.
I am really glad that there is a place like this to come and talk to others. Thanks for starting it.
I hope to come back to this site often.
Gail

Re: Hello from Minnesota

Hi and Welcome to the site. It's a great site. I am from Bemidji. I would recommend the hospital in Hibbing for your first job. Stay away from Golden Crest. (That might not be the correct name.) It's the LTC downtown. I interviewed there for DON and I was not impressed. Besides, I recommend all new grads get into acute care first. PM anytime and if your interested in Bemidji, let me know. Nursing jobs are very hard to come by here. Also, if you don't mind the commute, Grand Rapids is opening thier new hospital in Jan. 2006. It will be a very nice place and they do offer better MNA/ AFSCME contracts.
