Hello, I am new

Hello there!
I just joined the family.
I am a foreign RN who applied for Credentials Evaluation in FLa. to be able to do NCLEX. I submitted all the necessary Docs. since last December and so far I have not gotten any news from the evaluations service regarding completion of the process.
Has anyone had the same lenthy experience?
Extra info:
1. They have all my documents.
2. All they have said to me is that they will do it as soon as possible.
3. This is 3 months later.
Anyway, is good to know that there are other nurses there to share the ordeal of foreign nurses registration and licensure.
Looking forward to sharing with you my journey
P.

Re: Hello, I am new

Wow!
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I wish the Credentials Evaluation Service in Fla. had told me about how long it usually takes (in their site it says that it takes 10 days) if I had known that it is so lengthy I would not be worried.
I feel better now that I know, thanks.
In the meanwhile I have been studying for the NCLEX.
I checked the foreign nurses area but I do not see anybody really commenting on the same kind of difficulty.
Most people want to know how long does it take for the FBN to send you the permission to take the exam.
Well I will keep you updated with my progress.
Many thanks again

your welcome, if you use the search facility I am sure you will find many threads. Also be aware Fl if I remember rightly will not issue you with a licensure until in the US with a valid work permit and a SSN. Also not sure where you are or whether you have a green card already but may be affected by retrogression

Re: Hello, I am new

Thank you guys!
Yes, it seems to be a very long journey...
Let me tell you a little more about me:
I started the process through an agency based in USA in October last year.
Presently waiting on the credentials evaluation for the agency to be able to send my application to FBN.
I did the course on prevention of medical errors (which is required by FBN since Oct. 2007).
I sat the IELTS in February and did very well.
So here I am waiting, maybe I will get through this year (I doubt it, but let me think positive) maybe it will be sometime in 2009.
Yes, I have heard about retrogression and I hope they find a solution for it. It is very sad, I hear some people waiting for years to get through.
I do not have green card, I just go up there to visit.
I am a Nurse Educator, and a Lecturer at a University; I really love my job, but I do not mind going " back to the bedside".
My family think that I am crazy, that I should be looking forward to my "tenure track" rather than missing the "shift work".
But I love studying, learning new skills, meeting new people, travelling, plus I have a little one who loves museums , aquariums, opera and libraries and over here there is nothing like that.
So thinking about my son's future I think it is also worth "starting again from scratch".
Anyway, this is a long one.
Thank you again and I appreciate any tips.
