Hello to all! I will have lots of questions!

Hello, I am a LPN who hasn't worked in family practice nursing for close to 10 years and now I recently was hired at a local clinic. I feel like I have to learn some things all over again. Some things I know are so basic to everyone else there, but I need to review. When they are walking around talking about a H&H, what does that stand for??? I feel stupid asking, I really do, but it has just been so long! Please help me get through this!

Re: Hello to all! I will have lots of questions!

Welcome to Allnurses!

Don't ever feel stupid for asking a question here. H&H stands for "Hemoglobin and Hemacrit", it's a measurement for anemia (low red blood cell count). If it's low they are anemic, but the challenge is to figure out why and what to do about it.

Good luck!
