Hello!!

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Wanted to say hi and arleady ask for your opinion.
I'll be done with nursing school in december and plan to take the boards in jan. or feb.I will hopefully have a job after that, but my question is this:
We are planning a trip with my family (whom have "suffered" with me through all this). This particular trip is only offered in june, july, of august...whiche means i will have to ask for time off during my interviews!!! yikes!!!!
I need tips on approaching the situation...everyone tells me that because of the shortage ill be fine, but i dont want to start my carreer on the left foot!!!!
What do you think???........

welcome to the site

I would have thought as long as you mentioned it at the interview about the trip and they still offered the job you should be OK. I would also ake sure something was in writing about it

Re: Hello!!

Welcome to Allnurses. You simply ask for what you need. "I need time off for.........is this a problem?" If they say yes (which shouldn't be a problem as you're giving them plenty of advanced noticed), when you get to the floor be sure to remind them "whom does the schedule and how I can put in the request for the time off?", i.e. go right to the source.

It would be wise not to schedule and put money down before you have an answer.

Re: Hello!!

Thank you both for your advise
I'll make sure I let them know as soon as possible and hopefully it will all go well.
Thanks again!
