Hello from 1st semester nursing student

Hello everyone,
I have been lurking at this website for quite some time but this is my first post. I just finished my first semester in nursing school :hatparty:
I am 29 and have a 6 year old daughter who is wonderful, although it has been challenging balancing nursing school and parenting, especially as a single parent. I couldn't have done it without the help of my family.
This is my second major...I previously was in physics, and am so happy to find that nursing students are much nicer than physics students.
Anyway, I'm grateful for this board and look forward to getting to know you all better!
Julie

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Reese cup, my first semester was disappointing for me; I'm in a BSN program and they recently expanded it from 5 to 6 semesters. So our first semester had NO clinicals--it was very frustrating to get into a nursing program and still have to wait a semester to start what I think is the interesting part. Our first semester was gerontology, therapeutic communication, pharm, and intro to professional nursing. Good luck with your child and nursing school--I don't think I could do it without the support of my sister, who helps me a lot with child care.
Sunnyjohn--yeah, I think physics students are actually people who had no social skills to begin with, so figured they might as well do physics. I was always the only woman in classes full of d&d types arguing over who was the most brilliant. The experience has really helped me empathize with men in nursing, though.
