Question Getting a late start...

Hello Everyone...
I am a 38yr old mother of 5...well 2 are mine the other 3 are my step children...and I'm wanting to go back to school to become an LPN.
I've been looking around...trying to get some info...I live in Lititz PA...and
not certain what the first step is...whether I should go to a community college...or whether or not any of the local hospitals have programs...
Anyone have any suggestions?

Start by calling a school or college close to you. Make an appointment to go in and speak with an advisor. They will be able to tell you what you need to do to enroll, what class you need to take and help walk you through those first few steps to get you started.

Best of luck to you

Welcome.

I agree that your best step is to talk to an advisor at your local school. Most hospitals no longer have training programs for nurses and we're educated at the technical school/community college/university level. Although some hospitals, like Florida Hospital have their own nursing colleges, but still they are separate.

Good luck!

Re: Getting a late start...

Hi!
I was in the same boat as you a year and a half ago, and now I'm actually starting nursing school on Wed. I went through my local community college - did all my prereq's first, applied to get into the program (very competitive in this area), got accepted, and here I go! I'm in my late forties and have two children (ages 13 and 8), and I have no healthcare experience at all, so it's going to be a challenge. I worked hard to get to this point, but I'm confident it will be worth it. Don't put it off any longer! Call your local c.c. and make an appointment with an advisor. Good Luck!
